Community Cultural Support Services

Purpose

Our community cultural service provides information and advocacy services to people of all cultures and ethnicities, with specialist teams supporting the needs of our Maori, Pacific Island.

Our cultural services provide person-centred or family-centred, culturally appropriate support.  We follow an integrated approach that focuses on the needs of the individual and their families.

The Community Cultural team supports by:

  • Assisting families to access the support they require from government agencies, such as Work and Income or Housing New Zealand

  • Linking families with other disability support agencies e.g.  Disability Connect

  • Assisting families to promote cultural understanding e.g. Fono Fale Model

  • Encouraging people with a disability to become actively involved and included in their cultures and communities.  Including linking people with a disability to their culture and communities.

  • Supporting families in the planning and reviewing of  Pacific Family Partnership Services to ensure cultural needs are met, alongside their clinical and aspirational goals (A holistic approach).
